SandLUG is the San Diego LEGO Users Group, an adult LEGO fan club
serving San Diego County and neighboring areas. Non-members are
welcome to attend to see what it's all about and there are no
membership fee or dues. We have regular monthly meetings the 3rd
Saturday of every month at various member homes, usually selected
the month before. Meeting times are flexible, but usually begin in
the early afternoon. Meetings typically consist of showing off our
own LEGO creations, hanging out, refreshments, trading, a group
activity or game, and a very short business meeting. SandLUG is an
adult fan group, but members are welcome to bring their children and
we try to be as family friendly as possible.
Throughout the year, SandLUG also participates in collaborative public displays of LEGO creations, most notably at LEGOLAND California during The Star Wars Days weekend in June, which we have done in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
In December of 2009 SandLUG completed its first charity toy drive collecting approximately $500 in brand new LEGO sets, which were donated to the San Diego Rescue Mission. We have repeated the effort in 2010, 2011 and are in the process of organizing as a non-profit charitable organization with philanthropic activity throughout the year.
SandLUG is also in the very beginning of the process of cooperating with other Southwestern LEGO groups to hold a regional convention within the next several years.
